Jessie Alice Marusich passed away peacefully August 10, 2017, just days before her 93rd birthday, after battling cancer. Though born in Porterville, CA, Jessie spent most of her life in Arizona. While still a young girl, her family moved to the southeastern Arizona town of Sunizona located near Douglas. There, Jessie, and her 4 siblings were raised on a chicken ranch where they regularly pitched in, and, played with their bull dog, Tige. After attending Ash Creek Elementary, she went on to Pierce High School. Though she loved attending local dances with her sisters, she met the love of her life and future husband Mike Marusich while working in the Purchasing Department of the Phelps Dodge Corporation. Once married she and Mike lived in Tucson where she worked for the Chamber of Commerce and he finished his business degree at the University of Arizona. Jessie found herself back in California after Mike accepted an accounting position, and she went to work for Forest Lawn Cemetery. In 1958, she and Mike moved back to Arizona buying their first home in Scottsdale. It was here she retired from one work force..to take on that of homemaker. During this time, she stretched her artistic wings and began to paint..and she did it well. She loved to bowl and spent several years bowling with a league. She played Bridge, and loved casino games. Many of her hours were spent volunteering to help write, type, and collate the Church publication. And when it came to baking..no one made a better pumpkin pie! Jessie is predeceased by her husband Mike, daughter Susan (Jeff) Banker, stepsons Michael (Marilyn) and David (Rebecca) Marusich, grandsons Geoff and Brandan Banker, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 2020 E Woodside Court, Gilbert, AZ 85297.
